Children’s kicks off fundraising campaign to benefit childhood cancer research
The season-long campaign provides college football fans and alumni the opportunity to donate to Children’s every time their favorite team scores a touchdown.
ATLANTA — Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Peach Bowl, Inc. are kicking off its ninth annual fundraising campaign that will go to support research for childhood cancer.
The Peach Bowl Touchdowns for Children’s (T4C) fundraising campaign will benefit the Peach Bowl LegACy Fund, which currently funds 18 clinical trials and studies to help find potential cures and treatment options for childhood cancers.
How can football fans help out?
The season-long campaign provides college football fans and alumni the opportunity to donate to Children’s every time their favorite team scores a touchdown during the regular season, Children’s explained in a statement online.
Through its first eight years of raising proceeds, T4C has raised more than $4.7 million for the patients at Children’s, including $2.3 million in direct donations from Peach Bowl, Inc. The goal in 2025 is to raise $450,000 and Peach Bowl, Inc. will match all pledges per touchdown and donations given for the fundraiser.
“As one of the largest pediatric cancer centers in the country, we diagnosed and treated 504 new cancer patients in 2024. That’s more than one child a day whose parents hear the words, ‘your child has cancer,’” said Dave Winokur, the development officer at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. “Atlanta’s dedicated college football fans, supporters of Children’s and the Peach Bowl are funding game-changing research to help patients, families and doctors score big in the fight against childhood cancer.”
There are several ways you can get involved to help donate to the good cause:
- Set up a pledge-per-touchdown amount
- Make a one-time donation
- Create a team fundraising page that allows their supporters to contribute directly, or a group fundraising page to join forces with other fans
“We are honored each season to team up with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for this worthy cause. Every pledge and touchdown this season will make a difference,” said Gary Stokan, the CEO and president of Peach Bowl, Inc. “For the last eight seasons, college football hasn’t just been about winning games. It’s been about raising money to fund innovative pediatric cancer research and helping us find new ways to eradicate childhood cancer. That’s a win for everyone.”
The person or group that raises the most money, along with the college team that raises the most, will be recognized with the 2025 Anna Charles Hollis T4C Trophy at the end of the regular season.
The trophy is named in memory of Anna Charles “AC” Hollis, a former Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center patient who passed away from acute myeloid leukemia in September 2018. Anna Charles is the daughter of Peach Bowl, Inc. Vice President of Sales, Benji Hollis.
